Oral history interview with C. B. Owens and Jerry Owens, 1978 January 25.

Interview with C. B. Owens, founder and Chariman of the Board of Owens Country Sausage, and Jerry Owens, son of C. B. Owens and President of Owens Country Sausage. They discuss their family background, life on the farm, and education. C. B. Owens recalls starting part-time home delivery sausage business from the home farm, his early production methods, his first wholesale account with Wyatt Stores in 1933, and his first processing "plant" with full-time business retail store and butcher shop. In addition, he talks about the expansion of the territory, the facilities, the products, and the employees, as well as other business interests. Jerry Owens discusses his time working in the sausage plant, his philosophy of ownership, as well as his thoughts on expansion, financing, employee, customer, and community relations, product quality, and pricing in the hog market. He also explains his views on business stability and fluxuations, competition, free enterprise, government regulations, and family-owned businesses.
